Only a few months after purchasing our Frigidaire FGHB2869LFA refrigerator, we started having issues with the ice maker and dispenser. Initially it was making loud noises, then it progressed into water dripping from the ice dispenser. We had repair technicians out to repair it a few times. They replaced the seals, and also the ice sensor arm. Each repair resulted in the ice maker working correctly for a few months, until finally the warranty was up. I then decided to attempt the repair myself. When I got the ice maker disassembled, I found that there is a condensate drain hole in the back of the ice maker that freezes up and causes a buildup of ice until the fan is blocked. Once this happens, the fridge becomes very loud and the ice maker may start to thaw.
Here is a video of my repair:
Luckily, carefully thawing out the back of the ice maker seems to correct the problem for a while. In my video, I also attempted to add a small piece of foil in the drain hole to attempt to keep it clear.
